As seen below in Kubstoff’s MS Paint version of the original Battlefield 1 trailer, all of the familiar scenes shown in the source footage are stripped of their high resolution details in favor of rudimentary line drawings and colors, with the frame-by-frame pacing being reminiscent of the earliest cartoons from American writer/animator and China, IL creator Brad Neely. The only aspect of the first Battlefield 1 trailer that remains fully intact is the electronic overhaul of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

Of course, those well-versed in the art of animation will be quick to point out that there’s no way Kubstoff’s remake of the original Battlefield 1 trailer is purely sourced in MS Paint. As it so happens, the YouTuber actually explained the work put into the recreation, saying, “It’s 70% paint and 20% photoshop to add shadows, lighting, and details and 10% Sony Vegas to animate the planes, horses, and propellers.”

Interestingly enough, Kubstoff’s take on the Battlefield 1 reveal trailer may not necessarily be his last attempt at taking the realistic-looking graphics of a modern video game trailer and making them appear as if they were drawn in MS Paint. According to the creator, after posting the above piece of footage, a bevy of folks have already been clamoring for a follow-up, asking for Kubstoff to redo The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s trailer in the Microsoft program. Considering the positive reception of the Battlefield 1 demake, fans will likely respond well to any of the YouTuber’s next projects.

Battlefield 1 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
