With just a month away though, there have been several questions floating around in regards to the trilogy. Initially released in 2001, Grand Theft Auto 3 was a financial and critical success for the series, but it included some elements that some deemed a bit too much for a video game to depict. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has already made changes to the original games, so fans reasonably began to wonder what other changes were in store for the series.

There doesn’t seem to be any significant changes coming as a post from ESRB confirms that Grand Theft Auto 3 - The Definitive Edition will be rated M as well as the reasonings for why. Grand Theft Auto 3 has been rated M for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Lyrics. The post goes into a bit more detail outlining some of the specific instances Grand Theft Auto 3 has that such as the inclusion of the red-light district depicting sex workers.

Of course, though, the post doesn’t highlight every instance so it’s possible the game could have been altered in other areas. It’s not something that will be known until release, but from what is shown so far, it’s unlikely Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will see any significant changes in terms of controversial content.

One thing that is quite interesting however is the fact that Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition has been rated M, separate from the trilogy. This doesn’t necessarily mean that means Grand Theft Auto 3 might release separately as this rating might be something that would have needed to be done regardless.

It’s unclear whether RockStar Games will be selling the games separately or only keeping them in the Trilogy pack. As of now though, Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition will be coming to PS Now in December while Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition will be coming to Game Pass next month. The M rating Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition received is perhaps expected, but something that could hint at how these trilogies of games will be handled in the future

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is set to release digitally on November 11 and physically on December 7, for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
