The latest installment of Grand Theft Auto expanded on the series by allowing players to experience the world of Los Santos and Blaine through three characters. The special abilities that are available with different characters and the online gameplay have managed to keep players entertained. With the download charts in mind, it seems that online gameplay, as well as the original campaign, is still giving players the content they want.

While GTA 5 managed to top the UK download charts for the PS4 once again, another early title for this generation of consoles was just behind. The Witcher 3 managed to claim second and has likely benefited from its resurgence of the back of the Netflix series. Elsewhere, Fortnite was the most downloaded free-to-play game and its DLC “The Wavebreaker Pack” topped the DLC charts. Established games are dominating the charts and this could be reflective of this generation of consoles coming to a close, as new games are set to release with new consoles.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has managed to be one of the best selling games every year since its release. With a game that has managed to impress so many players, it is unsurprising that it has managed to stay relevant to consumers. While some players may want an entirely new game, Rockstar has managed to supply players with plenty of online content. With that said rumors are already beginning to circulate about the next GTA title.

Many fans are eagerly waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6, but the current title seems to still appeal to players. It will be interesting to see how long a title which is over six years old can continue to be a top-seller and how long Rockstar will continue to support the title. Time will tell what the future holds for GTA, but the series has managed to keep fans engaged for decades and this looks set to continue.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
