Before the latest generation of consoles released in 2020 with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Rockstar Games announced that enhanced versions of GTA 5 would be coming to the new hardware. This enhancement makes the third console generation that Grand Theft Auto 5 has offiically been released on, with the original game being released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. At the PlayStation Showcase 2021 last week, Rockstar Games released a new GTA 5 trailer that gave an official release date, delaying the game to next spring, while also giving a first look at some of the game’s enhanced features. Upon release, the trailer received instant backlash and has been racking up dislikes since.

The PlayStation version of the latest GTA 5 trailer is approaching 100K dislikes on YouTube. This follows the dislike bombing of the GTA 5 PlayStation and Xbox Series X trailers shortly after its release. Just two days ago, the trailer was sitting at 16K likes and 39K dislikes, but has since grown to 24K likes and 97K dislikes. Similarly, the Rockstar Games post of the trailer currently has 31K likes and 93K dislikes.
A quick jot to the comment section reveals the source of the high dislike ratio. Many fans are questioning whether the PS5 and Series X version of GTA 5 really is improved and enhanced as the trailer says it is. They claim that the graphics do not look improved over the PS4 version, citing the lack of a comparison between the two in the trailer. Considering just how big a jump the PS3/Xbox 360 to PS4/Xbox One versions of GTA5 were, the current results are very disappointing for fans.
Another source of discontent can likely be pointed at the fact that Rockstar is still pushing Grand Theft Auto 5 to begin with. Rockstar’s continued support of GTA 5, and especially GTA Online, have reaffirmed that GTA 6 is not coming anytime soon. It is hard to blame Rockstar with just how much money GTA Online continues to make, and especially how much it cost making GTA 5 to begin with, but there is only so much single player fans can do in Los Santos. Players want a new, original GTA single-player experience, and if that trailer dislikes are any indication, GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X are not going to cut it, especially as shown there.
