Grand Theft Auto series leaker Matheusvictorbr- recently made some interesting claims about Grand Theft Auto 6, and more specifically, its map size. According to their information, the GTA 6 map will be “as big” as the Red Dead Redemption 2 map with “Caribbean islands” included but not part of the open world. This would be similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, which featured the tropical island of Guarma that players visit at one point in the campaign but are unable to return to after finishing the segment.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s map is massive, so it’s likely that the Grand Theft Auto 6 map size will be sufficient for players. Of course, this is all assuming that the leaked information about the GTA 6 map size is accurate. It’s always possible that plans will change between now and the game’s launch, with players ending up with a smaller or larger map.
In fact, a recent report suggested that Rockstar actually changed its plans about the Grand Theft Auto 6 map size already. Apparently, Rockstar Games originally planned for the GTA 6 map to encompass large parts of North and South America. However, those ambitious were apparently reeled in, with the developer eventually settling on a fictionalized Miami as the game’s setting. Reading between the lines, this means it’s highly likely that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in Vice City, as has been rumored for years.
While the GTA 6 map will apparently only consist of Vice City when the game launches, it seems as though fans can expect more cities to be added post-launch. It’s been said that Rockstar Games plans on releasing new cities for Grand Theft Auto 6 as DLC, which should greatly expand the game and give its longevity a significant boost, if true.
As for when fans will learn more about Grand Theft Auto 6 in an official capacity, that remains to be seen. Estimates put the GTA 6 release date as some time in 2024 or 2025, so it’s likely fans will have to wait quite some time to see the game in action and learn more about Rockstar’s plans for the title.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
